Possibly you have already seen the red posters of the new Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival sponsored by SALT. As you know, SALT organises visits to cultural events and we invite to all our students to join us at two of the screenings of the festival: “Wounded” and “A Gun in Each Hand”, on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October respectively.
Wounded
Saturday 11th October, 6pm at Edinburgh Filmhouse.
Where is the border between sanity and madness? Ana is 28 years old, works as an ambulance driver and loves her boyfriend. However, she is not happy and everyone describes her as a “difficult character”. This is the claustrophobic and acclaimed debut feature from one of the most noted editors in contemporary Spanish cinema, Fernando Franco (‘Blancanieves’). Winner of two Goya awards for New Director and Best Actress, the film was also honoured with the Special Jury Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
Q&A with Fernando Franco after the screening.
A Gun in Each Hand
Sunday 12th October, 6pm at Edinburgh Filmhouse.
Eight men in their forties are caught up in everyday situations that reveal a masculine identity crisis. They all share feelings of bewilderment, and their behaviour forms a mosaic of emotions men don’t usually reveal. A portrait of weaknesses and other “virtues” of today’s men, lost and confused as they search for a new identity.
As a SALT student, you can enjoy the special price of £6 for each one of these two screenings. Your tutor will give you more details of how to get the discount during your first lesson. If you want to take Spanish lessons at SALT, click here to have more information about our levels and times.
