Is the English accent the same in London and Aberdeen? Of course it isn’t. If the accent changes in a land this size, imagine how many accents there can be in Latin America?
When we are asked about the differences between Spanish from Spain and Latin America we always answer the same: there are many varieties. There is a way of dividing the Spanish of Latin America depending on the influence of the previous indigenous languages. This method establishes five different areas:
- Mexico, New Mexico in the US and central America.
- The Caribbean.
- Andean areas: highlands in South America, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and north of Chile.
- Centre and south of Chile.
- East south America: Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Cuando nos preguntan por las diferencias entre el español de España y el de Latinoamérica siempre respondemos lo mismo: hay muchas variedades. Hay una manera de dividir los acentos hispanoamericanos dependiendo de la influencia de las lenguas indígenas previas. Este método establece cinco áreas diferentes:
