What’s the new SALT conversation club?

By now, you have probably heard about our new service starting on the 13th of January: SALT conversation club. You will be able to practise your speaking and listening skills over a 10-week period in a relaxed atmosphere. Do you want to find out more about this service?

1. Which levels are offered?

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

2. Which level should I choose?

If you are unsure about your current level and needs, please feel free to phone (0131 228 6788) or e-mail us (info@saltedinburgh.co.uk) to arrange a free informal assessment.

3. Do I have to attend the 10 sessions?

No, you don’t. We are aware that not everyone has the availability of attending a weekly session. You can buy the 10 sessions but you also have the option of buying a 5-session voucher and attend any 5 sessions during the ten-week period.

4. Can anyone register?

Yes, it doesn’t matter if you are a SALT student or not. You might be studying Spanish with us, somewhere else or have studied Spanish a long time ago and be thinking of brushing it up. Everyone is welcome!

Our only pre-requisite is having at least the equivalent to our Beginner 2 level. Please, click here to check what this level means.

5. Are these sessions led by professional teachers?

Yes, SALT conversation club is run by our tutors: native, qualified, professional and highly experienced teachers. If you want to learn a new language, you will improve much more by being taught by professionals who know the language, about it and how to teach it. Being a native speaker of a language does not make you a language teacher!

6. How many students are there in each group?

We accept up to 10 students per group. This small number gives you plenty of opportunities to speak during the sessions.

7. Are sessions structured in a specific way?

Yes, they are. Students should not expect to arrive and talk about any subject under the sun that happens to come up. Each session will focus on a particular topic and materials and activities will be related to that topic.

At the first session, we will provide students with a password to access to a private section in our website where the topics and related materials for the 10 sessions will be available. As a student, you can download the topics and handouts that will be used in each session and choose whether you want to work on the materials before the session or not.

Please, note that you will have access to all materials even if you buy the 5-session voucher.

8. Is there any grammar input during these sessions?

No, these sessions are aimed at using the language and improving your general skills –including grammar- through speaking activities. They are not Spanish regular classes, but lessons aimed at helping you improve your fluency, build-up your vocabulary and speaking skills.

If you are interested in attending any of our regular courses, click here to see our current timetable.

9. Do I have to do any homework?

We won’t give you any homework for the following sessions, but we always recommend a bit of self-study. If you want to make the most of each session, having a look at the topic beforehand can be a great idea!
