Our Beginner 1 Spanish beginners course is the right choice if you have never studied Spanish before. However, students with some knowledge could apply for Beginner 2 or Beginner 3.

Beginner 1 - Course content

Start from scratch. This is the course for absolute beginner students. You will be surprised to see how much you can speak from the first day.

This course is also focused in pronunciation to give that confidence that we all need at this stage.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself and others
  • Give and ask for personal information ( age, name, where you live, where you are from, profession, phone number, email address, etc.)
  • Describe people ( physical and character description)
  • Talk about your family
  • Describe your neighbourhood and town
  • Describe your country and talk about the weather

Vocabulary

  • Numbers: 0-100
  • Professions and nationalities
  • Holiday nouns
  • Family members and relationships
  • Physical description and character adjectives
  • Places in the city
  • Adjectives to describe a neighbourhood/town
  • Weather/climate and geography words

Grammar

  • The alphabet & pronunciation
  • The definite article. Nouns and adjectives: masculine/feminine & singular/plural
  • Regular present tense: AR / ER / IR: the three conjugations.
  • Irregular verbs: Tener (To have), Ser (To Be 1) and Estar (To Be 2)
  • Possessive and interrogative pronouns.
  • Building sentences: affirmative/negative statements and questions.
Beginner 2 - Course content

We will learn to interact in very simple interactions such us ordering in a restaurant, shopping, asking for directions, etc. What you need to survive in Spanish!

This course is not suitable for complete beginners. You have to be able to do a basic exchange of personal information in Spanish. At the start of this course we expect from you to introduce yourself, to be able to make simple questions and to describe other people.

By the end of this course students will be able to :

  • Give and ask for directions
  • Describe a town or city
  • Talk about things I like or I am interested in
  • Talk about your hobbies and how often you practise them
  • Describe food and dishes
  • Order in a bar or a restaurant
  • Talk about my habits
  • Recommend and give advice
  • Talk about your daily routine
  • Tell the time
  • Talk about timetables
  • Ask for prices when going shopping

  • Shopping ( gifts, special occasions, shops)
  • Food and drinks ( typical dishes, ingredients, beverages)
  • Expressions and phrases to give directions

  • Time and routine (frequency adverbs, seasons, days of the week, months of the year)

Grammar

  • Present tense: Irregular verbs
  • Verb gustar (like) and similar ones : interesar and encantar
  • Description of places: Estar (To be 2), Hay (There is / are), Ir (To go)
  • Obligations: Tener que + infinitive
  • Frequency adverbs and expressions
  • Quantifiers (muy/mucho)

Beginner 3 - Course content

The last of our beginner courses it’s for those who can already cope with all the surviving situations covered in the previous level.

We will learn to tell simple stories in the past, like what you did on last weekend, and to talk about future plans. This course is full of vocabulary to consolidate all the structures learnt from beginner 1.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Plan your holidays
  • Talk about your daily routine and habits
  • Describe your feelings and talk about your difficulties when learning a new language
  • Give advice and recommendations
  • Talk about the duration of an action
  • Talk about timetables, leisure and free time activities
  • Describe places
  • Talk about past experiences
  • Talk about intentions and projects in the future

  • Describe a house/ an object
  • Locate objects in space
